Dal fry
Dal fry is a traditional Indian vegetarian dish, celebrated for its rich flavors and comforting warmth.

Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 2 ml water
- 1 g salt
- 0.25 g turmeric
- 3 tbsp ghee
- 1 g tomatoes
- 0.5 tsp cumin seeds
- 0.5 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 pcs bay leaf
- 1 pcs green chilli
- 2 g ginger
- 2 g cilantro
- 0.5 g red pepper
- 0.5 g salt
- 1 g sugar
- 0.25 tsp garam masala
Instructions
- Rinse and soak toor dal in approximately 3 cups of water for a minimum of one hour.
- Discard the soaking water from the dal.
- Boil the drained dal with 2-1/2 cups of water.
- Incorporate salt and turmeric into the cooking dal.
- Simmer on medium-high heat until the dal becomes tender, which should take about 30 minutes.
- Check that the dal has a thick, soup-like texture.
- In a skillet, melt ghee over heat.
- Introduce cumin seeds and mustard seeds into the heated ghee.
- Allow the seeds to pop.
- Add bay leaves, green chili, ginger, and chili powder to the skillet.
- Mix the ingredients for a few seconds.
- Incorporate tomatoes, salt, and sugar into the skillet.
- Stir and cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
- Mix in cilantro and garam masala with the tomato mixture.
- Cook for an additional minute.
- Drizzle the seasoning over the cooked dal and combine thoroughly.
- Let the dal simmer with the seasoning for another minute.
- Serve the dal alongside naan.
