Ingredients
- 0.6666666666666666 tbsp black beans
- 1.25 cup rice
- 2 g onions
- 2 g peppers
- 2 g cilantro
- 0.5 tsp salsa lizano
- 0.5 g salt
- 0.5 g cumin
- 0.25 g peppers
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and pour in enough olive oil to thinly coat the base; heat until the oil is hot and shimmering.
- Add the chopped onions, sliced peppers, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, ground cumin, salt, and pepper to the pan.
- Sauté, stirring now and then, for 3–5 minutes, until the onions become translucent.
- Fold in the beans and lower the heat to medium.
- Pour in the Lizano sauce, mix to combine, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked rice, stir it together with the other ingredients, and cook a few minutes longer to let the flavors meld.
- Keep cooking until the rice reaches the texture you like — roughly 5–7 minutes for a slightly moist (not dry) gallo pinto, or longer if you want it drier or more toasted.
