- 1 g onions
- 2 pcs garlic
- 1 pcs carrot
- 2.25 cup lentils
- 1 tbsp thyme
- 3 pcs bay leaf
- 1 g salt
- 2 pcs celery
Instructions
- Heat a large saucepan on medium heat.
- Pour oil into the saucepan.
- Once the oil is heated, stir in the chopped vegetables.
- Cook the vegetables until they become tender, which should take around 5 to 10 minutes.
- Pour 6 cups of water into the saucepan.
- Mix in lentils, thyme, bay leaves, and salt with the water.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
- Lower the heat to maintain a steady simmer.
- Let the lentils simmer until they are soft and most of the water is absorbed, approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
- If needed, drain any remaining water after cooking the lentils.
- Serve the lentils right away, or let them cool for later reheating.
- For enhanced flavor, substitute chicken stock for some of the water, reducing the water amount accordingly.
