Ingredients
- 450 g flour
- 55 g caster sugar
- 2 g yeast
- 0.5 g salt
- 6 ml milk
- 2 pcs eggs
- 30 g butter
- 140 g walnuts
- 85 g butter
- 85 g brown sugar
- 1 g cinnamon
- 1 ml milk
- 1 g icing sugar
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients to form the dough.
- Thoroughly knead the dough.
- Wrap the dough to keep it covered.
- Allow the dough to rise until it has doubled in volume, which should take around 2 hours.
- Punch down the dough to release the air.
- Lightly knead the dough again.
- Cut the dough into two equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a rectangle measuring approximately 12 inches by 8 inches.
- Combine the ingredients for the filling.
- Distribute the filling evenly between the two dough pieces.
- Spread the filling across each rectangle of dough.
- Roll each rectangle tightly to create two sausage-shaped rolls measuring 12 inches.
- Position the two rolls next to each other on a greased baking tray, ensuring they touch.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for about 40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200ºC (425ºF).
- Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until it has risen well and is golden brown.
- Tap the bottom of the bread to check if it sounds hollow.
- Take the bread out of the oven.
- Brush the top of the warm bread with milk.
- Dust a generous amount of icing sugar over the bread.
