Instructions
- In a sizable bowl, beat the butter and sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture becomes fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs and vanilla into the butter mixture and blend thoroughly.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
- Slowly alternate adding the flour mix and milk to the butter mixture, ensuring to mix well after each addition.
- Transfer the batter into a greased pan measuring 13 inches by 9 inches.
- In a large saucepan, mix together the syrup, brown sugar, cream, and butter.
- Heat the mixture until it reaches a boil, stirring continuously.
- Lower the heat and simmer the sauce for 2 minutes or until it has slightly thickened.
- Carefully pour the maple sauce over the cake.
- Bake the cake in an oven preheated to 325°F (160°C) for approximately 35 minutes.
- To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the cake; it should come out clean.
