Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 500 ml milk
- 10 tsp instant yeast
- 10 g salt
- 25 g sugar
Instructions
- Put the flour into a large bowl, then add the yeast and sugar.
- If the milk is cold, warm it until it’s lukewarm.
- Gradually combine the flour mixture with the milk, a little at a time, until the batter is smooth.
- Add the salt and stir with a wooden spoon until the batter is smooth and pourable.
- Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel and set it in a warm spot for about an hour to rise.
- Heat your deep fryer or pour oil into a large pot and bring it to 180°C (350°F).
- Stir the risen batter to bring any settled ingredients back into the mixture.
- Spoon the batter out using two spoons or an ice cream scoop.
- Dip the spoons or scoop into the hot oil before dipping into the batter so the mixture slides off easily.
- Carefully drop the batter into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding so the oil doesn’t cool and the pieces don’t stick together.
- Cook until one side is golden brown; if they don’t turn on their own, gently flip them with two forks.
- Remove the fried balls once golden brown and drain them on a sheet of kitchen paper.
