Ingredients
- 1.5 cup all purpose flour
- 0.5 cup cornmeal
- 6 g sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 ml vanilla extract
- 0.5 g salt
- 0.75 ml milk
- 1 pcs for frying oil
Instructions
- Fill a heavy-bottomed pot with oil to a depth of about 3 inches (or set up a deep fryer); heat over medium until the oil reaches 350°F.
- In a large bowl combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt, stirring to evenly distribute.
- Pour the vanilla extract and milk into the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture comes together into a dough.
- Lightly work the dough with your hands just until it holds together, then form it into a single ball.
- Pinch off portions of the dough and roll each piece into an elongated oval, making roughly 12 dumplings.
- When the oil registers 350°F, carefully add the dumplings in batches without crowding the pot and fry, turning as necessary, until all sides are golden brown, about 4 to 6 minutes.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried dumplings to paper towels to drain excess oil, then serve.
